However, the only reference that I found was on pages 17 and 50 where the term "Moor" was explained as being one of the many European words used to describe what Black people looked like out of disrespect for what Black people called themselves. From there I decided to Google "the black Moors" to see what would come up and I came across an interesting page entitled "The Moors Black Civilizers of Europe" and read through it. There was a section on the site titled "Origin and Race of The Moors" which pointed out a Black scholar name Wayne Chandler who traced the origin of the Moors to an African people known as the Garamante. From there I Googled "Garamante" and found a Wikipedia site that stated the Garamantes were a local power in the Sahara between 500 BC and 500 AD. This is where I pulled the 500 BC date from. Am I way off on this date?
